Our Materials Recycling Facility

Our Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) is one of the UK’s most technologically advanced, efficient and flexible plants for the processing of dry mixed recyclable materials. It exceeds the MRF Code of Practice requirements while producing TEEP compliant outputs and allows us to offer our customers robust and long-term solutions.

The MRF enhances a long line of recycling innovations that we have delivered. It doubles our overall capacity, extends the variety of materials processed and meets the growing demand for high quality, dry mixed recyclable capacity. It complements the sorting, grading and materials trading services for source segregated paper, card and plastics provided by our existing Collections and Processing Facility and will be a further step towards helping our customers improve their resource recovery rates from a wider range of materials.

Key Highlights include:

Specialist screening for highly compacted materials
Material quality upgrading capability
Optical sorting technology
Advanced human machine interface
Separate pre and post treatment storage areas
Permitted to receive 200,000 tonnes of material per annum

Casepak produces the highest quality and quantity of recoverable materials. Our highly automated, flexible, and efficient Materials Recycling Facility operates at industry-leading standards, ensuring the lowest cost per tonne for you.

We gain a comprehensive understanding of material streams and compositions and adapt to them accordingly. We also ensure high levels of plant reliability and availability from start to finish, with a strong emphasis on maintaining the highest Health and Safety standards.

Once processed, we dispatch the recovered materials to reprocessors, where they are pulped or granulated to be made into new products. We provide an audit trail for all recycled material consignments, detailing the completion of the recycling loop and can be used by the EA to verify that quality standards are met. Where possible, Casepak ensures materials are sent for recycling within the UK.

The materials that can be treated at our MRF includes:

Paper, including newspapers and magazines
Card, including Tetrapak
Glass (all colours)
Steel food & drink cans
Aluminium food and drink cans, foil, aerosols
Plastic, including film and plastic bags

Reporting is Key

We rigorously analyse and report on all materials processed at the MRF. Our reporting system exceeds the MRF Code of Practice requirements and includes the monthly analysis of client input materials and the resulting outputs. These reports form the basis of our partnership approach to continuous recycling improvement.
